How clinicians use it
Cards are the most flexible tool in a playroom. Use them to build feelings vocabulary, practice coping skills, and gather quick in-session data you can write into notes.
Built for
- Any child or teen goal involving feelings identification, expression, or coping
- Individual, family, and group sessions; classroom SEL lessons
- Quick in-session data: “named ___ of 9 feelings,” “chose 3 coping skills”
A simple flow
- Print on cardstock (letter, 100% scale). Print backs on the reverse if you like — flip on the short edge.
- Cut along the dashed lines. Laminate for repeat use.
- Start with 6–9 feelings cards for young kids; add more as vocabulary grows.
- Let the child sort coping cards into “works for me / not yet / not for me.”
- Send the child's top coping cards home with the tracker (last page).
- Note the skill practiced, the child's response, and the goal link.
Clinical note
These decks are original, general-purpose tools for building emotional vocabulary and practicing coping skills. They're not a standardized measure. Coping skills are practiced first when calm, then used when upset; pair practice with caregiver coaching so skills generalize. Card prompts can surface hard material — follow the child's pace and assess safety if a card brings up risk.
