My Experience Using Alma for My Therapy Practice
When I first started using Alma for my therapy practice, I was genuinely impressed. The platform is beautifully simple and user-friendly, which my clients appreciated immediately. Scheduling consults was a breeze, and my clients often commented on how easy it was to book sessions—no hassle, no confusion.
Another standout feature was the built-in referral system. Alma actively helps therapists connect with potential clients, which can be incredibly helpful, especially if you’re still building your practice. Their customer support was also top-notch. Whenever I had questions, Alma’s support team was responsive and genuinely helpful.
Why I Decided to Move Away from Alma
Despite all these positives, I eventually decided to switch to Headway. Alma charges a monthly fee, and while the service was excellent, I found myself wondering if it justified the ongoing cost. Headway, by comparison, offered essentially the same features—including simple scheduling, a strong referral system, and good customer support—but without a monthly fee.
For me, the choice became clear when considering the financial side of running my practice. Although Alma was good, Headway provided all the essentials without the extra monthly expense.
My Final Thoughts
I know plenty of therapists who use and love Alma. It certainly simplifies many aspects of running a therapy practice, especially client management and onboarding. But personally, given the similarity of services, switching to Headway made sense financially.
If you’re considering Alma, I recommend giving it a try to see if the simplicity and referral support justify the cost for your practice. When I signed up, I also got a few months free, so that was nice. However, if budget is a big factor for you, you might find Headway equally beneficial without the added expense.
